Starter sits on top the transmission aft of the cylinder down it a pocket. Electrical connections are accessible, but I've not looked at the starter removal procedure, I'm sure will require some dissassembly. Be sure to check both ends of each wire and include the grounds. I'd be surprised of the brushes are worn unless it is one of the mid 80's models. Max
